A 30-year-old man was seriously injured after the logging truck he was driving rolled on Wright Rd in Matakana last Tuesday.

The man was thrown from the truck, and was treated for serious crush injuries before being transported by helicopter to Auckland Hospital.

The truck is a stem truck, an off-road logging truck used in the bush, says sergeant Bede Haughey of the Warkworth police.

“We don’t know the cause of the incident, but the truck has been removed and examined to check for mechanical failure.”

He says the man’s injuries are believed to be abdominal and pelvic and happened as he was thrown through the cab.

Semi-Truck Gets Stuck Under West Chester Railroad Overpass

  • December
  • 8

West Chester Road, north of Cincinnati Dayton Road has been reopened this afternoon, after a tractor-trailer got stuck trying to get through a railroad bridge.

It happened just before noon when the truck, heading southbound on West Chester Road, tried to maneuver through the short narrow bridge and the rear section of the trailer got stuck.

West Chester Police brought in two large tow trucks and a truck dolly to help wedge the trailer out from under the bridge.

We could see the road has warning signs about the 13 foot, 6 inch clearance for the older concrete underpass, but it appeared the length of the trailer(53-feet) may have played a bigger role in getting the truck stuck.

The truck had scrapes along its side and the trailer’s roof was badly dented in multiple places by the encounter with the underpass. The truck’s driver was not injured.

An exit ramp off a busy interstate was temporarily shut down on Friday after a tractor-trailer tipped over.

The driver of the big rig says he was traveling down the interstate 140 ramp when the load of flattened junk cars on the back of the truck shifted.

The shift in weight caused the semitruck to fall over.

The driver had to kick out the windshield to get out, but was not injured.

The exit ramp was shut down until crews could get the tractor-trailer right side up again.
