A dump truck and trailer tipped over on Interstate 90 Friday morning, spilling gravel all over the lanes, according to the Washington State Patrol.
Trooper Jeff Merrill said the fully-loaded truck, which is owned and operated by Norpac Trucking of Tacoma, was traveling from North Bend to Redmond when it lost control.
A defective tire caused the truck to swerve across the lanes and into the median. The truck became detached from the trailer and rolled several times down an embankment before crashing to a stop in the eastbound lanes near Preston.
The truck’s entire load of gravel spilled across the roadway, halting traffic in both directions for several hours.
The driver, 58-year-old Robert Morgan of Sammamish, suffered minor injuries.
