IT was a case of boys with an extra big toy when Albury Civic fire station members got the keys to their newest piece of firefighting equipment.
At $310,000, the new fire engine clearly had its firefighters excited.
The truck was officially handed over to the station by NSW Fire Brigades’ Murray zone commander Col Holmes.
Supt Holmes said NSW Fire Brigades had seen a major equipment replacement program in the last five years.
He said Albury’s new engine would enable its firefighters to tackle blazes with more confidence and with greater efficiency.
Supt Holmes said equipment could be reached more easily on the new truck, helped by slide-out steps on its sides.
