Truck Accident Causes I-74 Backup

If you noticed a backup on I–74 West in Tazewell County Friday evening, you can blame a semi–truck for the delay.

Illinois State Police arrived on the scene just after five at the Pinecrest exit in East Peoria.
That’s where officials say an overwidth semi truck hit the overpass.
Officials say the driver left the scene after the collision.
It took a little more than an hour to clear debris and wood from the interstate.
After a lane reduction, an IDOT bridge inspector declared the overpass safe to drive on.
No one was injured during the incident.

In Chicago, the northbound lanes of the Southside’s Bishop Ford Freeway will likely remain closed through the weekend.
A dump truck traveling on Interstate 94 inadvertently popped up it’s trailer and caused the truck to slam into an overpass.
The Illinois Department of Transportation says the 115th street bridge suffered major structural damage.
